a generation kill crisis

So now that the Long Deadline of "get the magazine to the printers" has passed, I'm finally back in the swing of things, "things" meaning watching TV, mostly. I have watched a few more episodes of Generation Kill. And this is my situation, now: this show is obviously super fucking serious, and at the same time, I can't help desperately wanting fic where Lt. Nate Fick tops.

Like, seriously. I understand he's got the delicate-faced prettyboy looks (by god do I understand) but we gotta look past appearances and into personality, here. Lt. Fick would make such a good top. And it would be so hot. Why won't the internet indulge me in these things? :(

It's a really good show, kind of almost too intense to write fic for at first glance, but it's so complex it just calls to me

ikr, that's how I feel about it! And I also find his leadership style fascinating--he obviously cares about his guys, and at the same time he has to toe a hard line sometimes, and he has to be harsh but also do right by his subordinates, you know? He's kind of quiet but he sticks up for them when it's necessary and he notices when they're down and I just think he'd be a really perceptive dom.

Also the other day I came across this reddit thread of former/current military people and they all, like, unanimously agreed that Nate's leadership was some of the best on the entire show. And I have an unfortunate weakness for seeing the inherent power dynamics of the military hierarchy as ripe for kink fic /o\ I wanna see all the little moments that could be perfectly innocent just-doing-my-job moments but actually have so much more UST under them.

Also I just think he's really pretty. That might be influencing me here a little. Maybe. :D :D
